Question:
Hi Graham, I am glad you are doing pretty good on Paxil. It sounds like you have found a med that works good for you. I was on Paxil for a few months and I found it didn’t help. And now I am on Celexa and it’s doing a good, but also slow, job. I understand what you are saying about not feeling real. I have some very strange dreams! And sometime I will wake up and not know if something was a dream or real. I.E. This morning I was asleep and thought I had a dream. In the dream my mom yelled downstairs she was going to the store and my brother wanted a kinder egg and did I want anything from the store. I said salt and vinegar chips. Anyway later on I woke up and I went trough the day and tonight i looked on the counter and almost %^&* my pants, there was the chips! I could of sworn it was a dream! I’m sure I never woke up! About the dry mouth… suck on ice cubes through out the day. Helps a lot. Take care and *hugs* Kirsten ~~~ All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream. ~Edgar Allan Poe~

Dear Graham, Good to hear from you again!! The weird feeling your describe is called derealization/depersonalization, it is when you feel you are living in a dream or fog, that things aren`t real. Sometimes your surroundings don`t feel real, or you don`t feel real. It is a really uncomfortable feeling but not at all dangerous. It could be the Paxil causing this, which means it should dissipate with time. Taking a benzo would help this symptom, being you are in the UK, we know that is not an option. In spite of this feeling, you are doing remarkable. Keep in mind that recovery Jackie ~*~There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face

Hi Graham, I still have that feeling sometimes, but am getting more used to the different feeling. I have been on Paxil since August. I think it is half and half….my body is adapting and I am adapting. It is really great that you are getting out more! Sooo Cool! I can indeed relate to that. I had the same sensation while I was first on Paxil. Now at a little over seven months that along with most of the other initial SE’s are gone. Like Chip said a xanax will indeed help, that is if you can find a doctor to prescribe them in the UK. Jess

I don’t feel real either. I’m living in a nightmare right now.

I was just about to post to you to see where you were…glad I saw you here…I was getting worried. I hope you find some peace today. Be easier on yourself. Pamper yourself…ignore the world…take a long bath, do what makes *you* feel good. R I don’t feel real either. I’m living in a nightmare right now.

Thank you for thinking of me. I tried to send that to you by email but didn’t know how to decipher your email address. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I was just about to post to you to see where you were…glad I saw you here…I was getting worried. That sounds like depersonalization/derealization, which is a common symptom of anxiety, but can also be an initial side effect of Paxil. In either case it should diminish as you continue to take your Paxil. When I have experienced those symptoms, a Xanax relieved them within minutes.
