Question:
Katie, So glad your doctor’s appt went well. Don’t know anything about effexor but I am on the clonzapem (sp?) and it is showing some god signs for me. I know what you mean about the relaxation tape, if you don’t like their voice you may as well forget the tape. I have found that also with some exercise tapes – their voice and attitude either get it or not… smiles, elise
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hey there, Well I just got back. The results from the EEG aren’t in yet, but the doctor who gave it to me said there wasn’t anything abnormal. I got my prescription changed. Now I’m going on 37.5 of Effexor (sp?) and going back to my original dosage of Clonazepam which is 1/4 mg 3x a day. He said it was absurd of the general practitioner to take me off of Clonazepam just because my dad wasn’t comfortable with me on medication. You can’t blame him though, he just associated medicine with not being well. I’m just a little weary because I thought I was past that stage where I needed a sedative, but on the other hand I’m actually glad to be getting some relief. ( I hope, I haven’t taken it yet though) I, myself, am going to try some things. I have a relaxation tape that my psychotherapist (pdoc?) gave me. However, I don’t ever use it because I can’t stand her voice. So finding a better relaxtion tape and using it is on my to-do list. There’s a lot of stuff to get done before the holidays, but nothing too stressful. I’m making a quilt for my friend along with patchwork clothes for some relatives. Has anyone else used sewing as a form of relaxation? Does anyone have anything good to say about effexor? I think this one might work better for me. Well, thanks for listening. Dear Katie, I am glad that your doctor visit went well. Good for you for getting the Klonopin back, I am sure it will help with the depersonalization you have been feeling. Effexor is a good med for anxiety and depression. We have a few posters that are doing quite well on it. I have found sewing, needlepoint and crocheting to be great diversions when feeling very anxious. Take care and good luck with the Effexor. Jackie

Hi Katie, I used to do quite a bit of sewing but don’t anymore. I always found it relaxing, now I knit and do needlepoint, while I watch TV with my husband in the evening. I wish you the best with your new medication, maybe your dad could talk to you doctor so that his mind can be eased about you taking medications. Hi Katie, Glad things were normal with your eeg. Now you don’t have to worry about that. It is good that you have the sedative to use too. Yes, I sewed some of my Christmas gifts this summer when I was the most anxious. It gave me something to concentrate on besides my anxiety. I bet your quilt will be beautiful.
